We got the exciting news that we are moving!!! (even though its only 45 minutes away lol)

Over the past year my husband and I have been working our butts off to be able to buy a house because lets face it the rental prices are as much as mortgage is now days especially in California where we live. We spent the last 6 months trying to buy a home and put many offers in over asking price and STILL got out bid from people offering 25k-50k over asking price (which we couldn't do). The last month we have been going back and fourth to step back from buying or renting and just couldn't decide which was best but we finally decided on base housing and here is why.

NO RENT OR UTILITIES

This was actually a BIG one!! Even though we lose our BAH allowance it actually ends up panning out because the money we would be getting we would be paying more then that on our montage or to rent another home.

COMMUNITY

Military community can be good or not so good as most military know if they have lived on base before its definitely a mixed feeling. Ive never lived on base before so this is all new to me but I am actually excited to be able to meet new friends and our kids having play dates. They have multiple parks, water play places, on site libraries, and other fun things to do with the family.

HOUSING

What sold me on housing is the size of these houses/town homes they have you in. The homes we were looking to rent or heck even buy were so small and we were looking at 2300 plus just in rent or mortgage which is crazy to pay that for such small homes that we would have to squeeze into as a family of 4 soon!. Housing is based on your Rank so if you are considering it just be open minded that not all housing is the same. We thankfully qualify for a bigger place with my husbands rank. We will be going from a two bedroom one bath house to a 3 bedroom 3 bath house with a decent size backyard so you could say i'm super excited!!.

FEELING SAFER ON BASE.

I will say this was a HUGE one for me. We live in the middle of the City currently and sadly the area is not good at all, I couldn't tell you how many times I've came out my front door to homeless sleeping in my front yard, throwing trash in our yard, randomly coming up to our house for no reason at all but to look around and we recently dealt with some theft which set me over the edge. We have lived in this house for 6 years and

I will say I've never felt less safe in our area.

Base housing is gonna be the most safest thing ever right now, Nobody can just come on base, you won't find homeless lurking around your homes or cars, you feel safe letting your kids play out in the front yard because no one is gonna come snatch them or be a creep watching them, You can leave your car unlocked if you wanted to. I will sleep so much better at night knowing that if something wild were to happen on base we will have a lot of military men armed ready to fight! Now let me say just because you live off base doesn't mean your area is bad and you aren't safe but its definitely not always like that for most people this day and age.

I will keep you updated on how I like base housing. I plan on giving it awhile before giving you my honest and true opinion on things.

If you made it this far I thank you and hope enjoyed my thoughts on thus base housing.

Thank you for reading!
